This week, SOPS has finally announced that three of their stock will be hitting the retirement pastures this season.
First of those stock is Wildly Natural. This brilliant mare is coming off of her win in the Breeders Cup Turf, the thirty fifth win of seventy starts, meaning she has won exactly half of the races in her career. Amber let slip that there are plans to nominate the mare for the Hall Of Fame. Breeding plan wise, Amber has also let slip that Tura will first be bred to Impressario. This would make for an impressive foal. If Tura makes the Hall Of Fame, then this Ario x Tura foal would be a third generation horse with an all Hall Of Fame pedigree and ancestry. The thought makes me drool!
The second of the retiring stock is the brilliant sprinter Pegasus Wings. This energetic stallion never placed out of the top three in his career, a feat no horse can brag at his level. The Royal Red Richard son is just coming off a second win in the Breeders Cup Sprint. He has also won the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint in the past, showing his accomplishments on both surfaces. Henna, the stallion's jockey, has expressed a desire to nominate him for the Hall Of Fame as well, a desire that Amber has not yet quelled. Breeding wise, he is set to breed to Hall Of Famer Deadly Desires and maybe a couple others this season. But before he retires, he will be running for a thirtieth win in the Unicorn Horn Sprint in four weeks. Henna wants win thirty on his record, especially since they're so close. Good luck to them!
Finally, Dashing In The Firelight is also retiring. This mare, Henna's favorite, is coming off a second place finish in the Breeders Cup Marathon. She has been a star and she's one of Henna's favorite horses. Before she retires, though, she has one last race to run - the exclusive Risorgimento Cup in two weeks. Henna has been prepping crazily for this race, her beloved mare's last, and we wish the best of luck to her. Breeding wise, Henna has announced plans to breed the mare to Confianza, the horse that nearly stole the year nine Triple Crown, but that the weanling will be sold in the upcoming foal crop sale.
