SEA SIREN
Ridden By
Chris Stevens
GENERAL workout
It was at least six in the morning when Mason Connelly woke up Chris Stevens the jockey to Sea Siren until other jockey's were hired. Chris saddled up the colt who seemed eager to get out. After saddling the young racer Chris hopped onto his back as Mason took the reins and walked ahead pulling the colt to the track of Green Horse Fields. "Now listen here Stevens this is just a general workout take him out and see how he breezes." The Trainer said handing Chris the reins. "I know I know." Chris said guiding the colt to the starting point.
Siren's head was raised as he looked at the length ahead of him nodding his head as if he were already ready to go. The time started and Chris flicked his whip a little and Siren was already on the move. Of course, as usual the colt started slow from the behind something that Mason nor Chris liked so much but, where the colt was slow he gained in later among his competitors. the colt went his normal stride and Chris tightened his grip on the reins and lowered his head as he and the colt came to the first turn and that's when thing took a twist Sea Siren galloped even faster a couple of furlongs down and a few more to go.
The colt was blazing through the track as Mason, the trainer timed every mile. Siren gained up on other trainer horses on the track and matched there speed but the long furlong was done and over with. Chris gently pulled the reins to the side and Sea Siren went in that direction galloping more faster the last turn. Chris knew Sea Siren was a Maiden but, he still had to enter him into races and this workout was to see how he would do. After the last furlong Chris loosened the reins and commanded for more speed and Siren bolted more reaching the finish.
Gripping the reins and pulling them tighter for the colt to stop. Getting off he took off the helmet and gave the reins to Mason. "He still starts in the rear but he still flies down that track." Chris said feeding the colt a carrot. "Well our fearless leader wants us to race him when we can so he knows the feeling of an actual race. Later we will work on Spirit of Joy see where he leads us." Mason told Chris loading up Sea Siren back on the trailer removing his saddle so they could go back to there stables.
