PASSION HEART Ridden by Terri Lane
RULER'S SECRET Ridden By Lawrence Kaine
The day was young and the forests were very quiet. Terri Lane went over to Ruler's stable where she found Lawrence already saddling up the colt that got 4th place at the Cabrie Maiden at the Wire while Terri's Passion Heart, Ruler's Secret's little sister had gotten 5th place in the same race. The two had finally went up against each other but, not in such good results. Terri then went to saddle up Passion who seemed anxious to run although, it would not be on the track but a little freedom running in the woods.
Pulling the reins Terri walked Passion Heart over to Ruler's stables where Lawrence and Ruler were already waiting. "Well I say running them on a forest path might actually give them some relief from the track." Terri said then got upon Passion's back as Lawrence did the same on Ruler's back. The two horses were related being brother and sister but, Passion had more experience on the track than her older brother Ruler's Secret had. The colt had an injury that just healed up. Walking the horses onto the path that led them into the forest Lawrence went first of course. "How far shall we take them this path has to go for miles." Lawrence said looking at Terri.
"As far as we can they are horses or until they stop running this isn't a race Lawrence we are just going to have a good time." Terri said as the two then came to the path. Getting ready the two then gently gave the horses the go to run and the two thoroughbreds were off running on the path like they were wild horses. Terri and Lawrence held on tight hoping they would follow the path that were below their hooves. Where Ruler's Secret started Passion Heart ran passed him with no problem. But, it wasn't long until Ru was running side by side with his sister.
The two were very capable of beating each other they had the same bloodlines being full siblings but, a year apart. Terri and Lawrence were hoping with this freedom run would be a great exercise for the two after being on the track. The two horses were neck and neck with each other until the two jockey's decided to bring them to a steady trot to enjoy the scenery. "Ah that was beautiful." Terri said as she then turned Passion Heart to turn on the path that would take them home. "Yeah it was only I thought we weren't racing." Lawrence said guiding Ruler to follow.
The two horses seemed to love the outdoors exploring new ground. Passion Heart raised her head as a joy came to her after that run. Walking alongside her brother the filly and colt seemed to nip at each other even with the bits in their mouth. Coming along the last path Terri decided to go one more round and Lawrence agreed to follow her. The two jockey's held on tight to their horses as they let them run the path. Again the two were neck and neck and this time Passion gained the lead but, Ruler came up in the end to pass her with no hesitation.
After the two finally came out of the woods the jockey's brought the thoroughbreds to a halt then to a walk to the stables. "Yeah well they are horses they are born to run plus this run was to help them relax it wasn't a run for a race just a normal run." Terri said then after reaching the stables sliding off the back of the filly and Lawrence soon after. "Yes, but, your Passion Heart did not have an injury the first two years of her career." Lawrence said taking off the colt's saddle and placing him back in his stables.
Terri had done the same thing and walked back over to Lawrence and Ruler's stable. "There's a race coming up and the two need to be well trained and ready. Ruler can do it just have faith." Terri said as she fed both horses a carrot and the two jockey's went back to do some more research on what races to enter.
