NEWSLETTER MARCH/APRIL YEAR 13
Hello everyone, this is Katie Ganderson writing the latest newsletter for In Stride Racing. Even though it may seem that this is the April Newsletter, I will be including March updates and results too to avoid confusion. It’s an opportunity for each of our jockeys to express their thoughts and feelings on the race they’ve ran in, or share their own news.
MARCH WEEK ONE
March Week One held the running of Winning Touch in the Volcano Cup against Stalker's Fury and Smarty's Dream, and Majestic Hero in the Up And Coming Cup. Beth Harvey says that even though he did finish second behind the three-year-old, Fleet Majesty, Majestic Hero ran incredibly well, and that she entered him for the experience. Winning Touch won her race with Ivana Babicová on board, Stalker's Fury in second, Smarty's Dream third. All in all it was a good week even though not many horses ran.
MARCH WEEK TWO
March Week Two saw the races heat up. Calimero ran second behind In Front in the March Maiden Turf, and Mardi Gras ran third in the March Juvenile Dirt Faceoff. Glory Bell also ran second on the dirt behind Heart Of Rio, and Immortal Flight after a bad break took third in the Prince Cup. To brighten it up, Majestic Hero won his race infront of Call Of The Wild and Paranormal Hunter. Jockey Beth Harvey said the race last week did him good in preparation for coming back to win this week. She is very proud with him.
MARCH WEEK THREE
This week was the week of Beltane running in the First Lady Cup. She was sent off as the favourite but after she fell to her knees at the start and lost a shoe. She got herself back together even though she was running in a position she didn't like. She ran second on the wire behind After Dusk. Jockey Jacey Leigh-Lanning says she is happy the way the mare ran even though she bobbled the start.
MARCH WEEK FOUR
Immortal Flight, Beltane and Silver Serendipity took to the tracks this week. Immortal Flight raced against Jazzaway and Born To Impress to take second behind the black Impressario colt. Beth Harvey is very happy, but she wished she could've closed that little bit more to get a nose infront like she did in the Spring Cup Grade Four Turf. Silver Serendipity took second in her race and Beth is also very happy with the way she is progressing lately. But the week was rocked by Beltane. Against After Dusk and Tears Of Blood, the mare broke well and lead from start to wire. Jacey Leigh-Lanning was over the moon with the filly who kept the pace a good one. After Dusk placed third behind three year old sprinter, Tears Of Blood.
MARCH WEEK FIVE
In the Stable Faceoff, Daddy's Overdraft and Calimero were entered in the Maiden Turf. Daddy's Overdraft won, and Calimero was a close second. In the Maiden Dirt, Glory Bell won, and Crackerjack placed second, good for his first start. Midnight Sun placed second behind Arlequinn, and Tears No More was a very very close second behind Speed Rush, good considering Speed Rush is now one of the top sprinter three-year-olds alongside Tears Of An Angel and Tears Of Blood. Immortal Flight placed second behind Ode To Glory - it seems the Faceoff would provide a streak of second places... but finally, Beltane didn't fail to impress with her win in the Grades 3-1 Dirt Sprint. She beat Lynara's Kingdom and, no surprise, After Dusk yet again to win. She lead again from start to wire. Jacey Leigh-Lanning is delighted with the mare's progress since she has come to In Stride Racing, and if she carries on, it looks like she could continue to race again next year against the younger generation.
APRIL WEEK ONE
The Magic Millions series provided thrills and spills for In Stride Racing, with Silver Serendipity kicking it off with a third place in the Fillies Sprint. Beth Harvey wished she had more race preparation beforehand. Tears No More rocked the Colts Dirt Sprint to win ahead of Mighty News and Flashpoint. Majestic Hero faded to third towards the end of the race, but keeping his consistency. Beth was slightly disappointed with the colts performance after his pre-race workout went well.
APRIL WEEK TWO
Immortal Flight had a break after the Faceoff to come back and win the April Turf Stakes. Beth Harvey was delighted that the colt had a win under his belt. He is now one win away from the Grade Three Status. If all goes well, it seems like he could go to the Belmont Turf Classic, or furthermore, the Canadian Triple Crown. Silver Serendipity took second place again. Beth said she was getting slightly annoyed that a second win wasn't coming out of the filly just yet. Winning Touch was scratched before her run as Ivana thought she'd do better in the bigger races. Tears Of An Angel placed third in the Silk Road Stakes behind Blue Me Away and Bella Luna as expected.
APRIL WEEK THREE
Tears Of An Angel was entered in the Top Speed Stakes alongside her twin, Tears Of Blood and top sprinter Mastermind. She won the race and is now back and fighting, and hopefully being entered in the Triple Sprinter Series. The rest of the races are still waiting to be ran, with Beltane in the Aluminium Cup against Lynara's Kingdom and After Dusk again. Jacey is nervous about the race and she is hoping that Bella can lead wire to wire again.
