MIDNIGHT SUN
Ridden by Terri Lane
Terri Lane was assigned to the new filly at Bowen Acres Midnight Sun. The pitch black filly was not an easy one to deal with but, Terri Lane had another similar filly to Night. She grabbed the filly by the reins and started humming a tune to get the filly to calm down a few and had to feed her carrots in order to do so. "Now come on you'll learn to love me as you did your old jockey I promise." Terri said before walking the thoroughbred. Terri was eager to get Night used to her so she wouldn't be so frightened.
The muscular black filly snorted through her nostrils as she was forced to exit her stall and approach the practice track with style. She would simply allow her jockey upon her back only because she wanted to get this day over with. So far, Night was up against two other fillies with the same distance as herself. In gate one was Sugar Rush, sired by Sweet Sugar Cane and out of Rush Hour. She had high hopes today on the track but, she was a two year old front runner, she would definitely be pushing Midnight Sun farther and farther to the wire.
Next in gate two was Crowned Queen another 2 year old with three wins already. She was a preceder that followed the leaders until the very end. Terri would have to watch her on the wide side towards the 2 furlong marker. All three runners were tough attitude fillies. Midnight Sun was dual surfaced sprinter with already 3 wins to her name. She always headed to the lead and pushed her competitors so this race would definitely be a challenge for the filly.
Terri would only make this a simple workout only to get the horses legs moving and warmed up for the Summer Cup. This was Terri's first time on the filly and would experience how she would do with her. "Just a breeze today okay?" She said as she aided Night to did what she did best onto the tracks. The filly seemed to have no issue with the gate many do. After that she bolted away as if to never return. She was pacing her way towards the back stretch to get a full glimpse of the track. Terri would then slow the filly to breath without hasty movements.
She horse was brilliant to look at and Terri felt they had work to do but, she was beyond a marvelous runner. Midnight would be pushing her competitors and will do anything in her style to gain the lead all the way to the wire. After she was finished with her workout it was time to head back. Terri patted the filly's neck to praise her for a great days run. "We will put on a fight won't we Night?" She said looking down at the face of her racer. She then took the filly back to the stalls to get brushed and fed once again.
GET LOOSE
Ridden by Lawrence Kaine
It was nice to be back on Green horse fields well at least to Lawrence it was. Today he was going to workout the Justa Muffin colt Get Loose. He was a stubborn 2 year old working his muscles on the track that was much different then the Wire's. The grey colt stood gently while he was ready to go and Lawrence was getting used to this colt to be quite appealing. This was the Summer Cup and he wanted Ossie to be prepared for such an event. His other competitors were definitely on the list.
In gate one for the Grade Five Turf was White Rose. A 2 year old filly with a very strong attitude. She had two wins to her name the May Maiden Turf and the Wannabeastar Turf stakes. She was owned by Dreamvalley stables who had just returned to the racetracks after a long absence. She was a preceder much to take on other horses and come in at the end. She was in need of watching on during the back stretch.
Gate two held none other then Ossie's half sister Beautiful Liar. The two were identical in looks but, much different on the track. She was a three year old who is known to stalk her opponents on the track. She had 3 wins to her name and would definitely be tough one to gain up on. She was sired by an excellent turf horse known as Gorgeous George who had the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf to his name. She was out of Loose Truth the same dam of Get Loose himself.
Gate Three had Naturally a Flyer in hand, a three year old daughter to The Natural. She would also be one to watch for on the tracks and to Get Loose she was the stronghold. Another Preceder. Each of these horses had high hopes. In gate four was what Get Loose would be in. Lawrence wanted this colt to be ready for these horses. He was sired by Justa Muffin who won the Preakness Champion Stakes during his 3 year old season.
Get Loose varied among the track going from horse to horse until he gained the confidence to make his way to the lead. He was well matched in this race. "Easy there Ossie the race is coming no need to get moody there." Lawrence said as the colt was in a high mood this evening. The colt was easy on the track like a knife through butter. The colt would be ready for race day and being very quiet after the workout was done Get Loose just remained silent. He was a big baby with the will to run. "You ready for bed already?" Lawrence said as they returned to the stables.
GS SUPER CHARGED
Ridden by Chris Stevens
Mason Connolly was the handler to Ben as the bay horse was nicknamed. He took the horse from the stalls as the colt fought him with every breath. "You sure do have a bond with this one Chris. Just make sure he doesn't throw you off out there huh?" Mason said as he watched Chris mount upon the horse's back. "Yeah well it took awhile and hard work Ben here is just stubborn." Chris said motioning the horse with the number 4 on his blanket.
Gate one horse was scratched from the race which only left Gate two to hold Headstrong. A 2 year old War Admiral daughter. She would be none other then Ben's aunt but, the two would compete against each other with no end. Headstrong was a front runner that went immediately to the lead, Super Charged was a closer he would most definitely come eye to eye with his aunt towards the end of the back stretch that is where Ben would make his move on the filly.
Gate three was a colt by Radiance and out of Silver Stalker. This was the colt Ben would need to watch out for. Radiant Silver as he was named was also a closer on the tracks. He had a similar attitude structure as Super Charged and Chris would need to get passed him quickly rather then later. This would be the competition on the track and Ben would certainly fly with him.
Gate four was GS Super Charged. He was the son of Admiral's Revenge out of Sonata. He certainly picked up on his Sire's bad manners he was still a monster on the track whether he won or lost. He was the only 3 year old running this race so far and had 3 winnings so far. He was a closer, taking his sweet and quiet time to finally break loose after the middle of the back stretch. Chris would definitely be in a rough patch during this race and would not know how Ben would react.
Chris had allowed Ben to take his lead and effortlessly the colt would make easy strides passed each furlong necessary. The colt was a racer and indeed he had the blood to do so but, Chris saw the colt as an Aggressive wild horse who did not want to be tamed. He would race the colt until his retirement. With much work Ben would be a stakes winner rather then a bigs race winner. The colt would be stunning to look at come race day and he would give it his best to get the job done.
GAMBLE ON PEACE
Ridden by Carlos Sanchez
Gambler was the last for the summer cup workout for Bowen Acres. He was also the only Grade 3 stallion in the stables so far. He was entered in the Grade Three Dirt Sprint and had quite the challenge on him. Carlos was set to ride him as Gambler's original jockey was riding GS Super Charged in the summer cup as well. Gambler was a sprinter with 5-10 furlongs thanks to an extension and training.
The chestnut was already ready to go and Carlos had the stallion on the dirt track already trotting along the middle of the track. He would let the horse do what he was trained to do and would make him come to a gallop along the back stretch of his lengths. He hadn't raced since the spring cup where he came in 2nd place almost first except missing it by a nose. This sprinter was all business and during his 3 year old career he managed to become Grade 4 to Grade 3 in a heart beat.
In Gate one was Loud and Clear a dual surfaced filly sired by Cryin' Out Loud out of The True Fallen For. She was only a 3 year old and had quite a few accomplishments to her name already, the HIOLIO DERBY* being one of them. Loud and Clear comes from spectacular lines being a grand-daughter to True Enough. She certainly was an incredible filly that was a known preceder on the track. Star Thoroughbreds certainly knew how to get them.
In Gate two was another horse from Star Thoroughbreds, Strictly Royal. A five year old stallion sired by HoF inductee Royal Red Richard out of Strictly Speaking. He was simply a brilliant horse on the tracks and was a front runner automatically taking the lead. He was certainly going to put on a show out there for his status and would need to be taken lightly.
Gate three was Gambler a four year old stallion with unknown bloodlines. He certainly came a long way to get here. He was a closer but he came in at the end to strike where others seemed tired. The Chestnut had not won many of the big races yet, but he had the I Believe I Can Fly Derby at the Wire, The Purple Rose Stakes, and the Lemonade Cup to his name so far to name a few. this race would definitely be another accomplishment.
The time was up for the race and the colt was well rested for this race. Stretching his legs was a relief to the colt and while he waking up during this run he would gain his mobility in this race. Gambler was a very calm stallion and for what it was worth he was just glad to be running on the tracks. He didn't seem to care much for winning or losing he was a horse that made it this far into the racing career. His races would be more interesting by the day.
