Terri Lane had brought out Gone Wild to the practice tracks for the first time. She had felt that the filly needed the boost as it was her own fault for not bringing her out here sooner. Terri pulled the reins to the bay filly and rubbed her nose gently. Alana had the potential for the Triple Crown in the future. She was a dual surfaced filly that could take on distances. Her pedigree came from old lines as Gone Wild was sired by Sharp Montana and out of All Smiles. It was said form her old owners that her parents racing career's were pretty good but, the records had been lost.
This week she was up against other new racers with hopes to be big. Terri guided the filly onto the dirt tracks and let the bay horse feel the tracks beneath her hooves. "You ready for your first practice Alana?" Terri said in a sweet voice to the animal. She wanted the filly to know that Terri was nice and her friend not her enemy. The filly was just as her name described and was sometimes a bit crazy at hand. Terri would figure out how she would do on the tracks.
She started the filly out in a nice trot to get the gist of the exercise. She needed to get her muscles warmed up before going into a full gallop. Coming around the first furlong pole Alana came to a canter before looking forward to see a wide track at hand. Approaching the next pole Alana began to pick up speed to a full gallop. She preferred the front and raced off immediately showing no weakness or dismay of ever slowing down. Terri looked at the fast moving track ahead of her and would pull the reins in the right direction so the filly wouldn't run into the railings.
Alana held her speed lightly along the back stretch before she pulled away again. The filly would seem to be away from the railings pushing away with tremendous movement. She was just starting out in her career and she would be expected for greatness or so championship. Passing the wire was easy for the filly. She rose her head in excitement and Terri hollered in joy for the filly. "And Alana wins it for the crowd Woohoo!" She said to build the filly's confidence up for the race coming up. She wanted Alana to be prepared and she would hope to win this race to move up in the grade.
