Special Edition deserved this today. He was more prepared for the race, with previous workouts throughout the year too. He was the better rested horse and on the day I felt he was also the stronger horse. I loved Matty's workout Snowy - but it was the first workout of the year for him too, and this really let it slip from his grip ever so slightly.

He was a bit uncomfortable at the start of the race due to leading - but once he settled, he preserved his energy and saved it for when Matty made his move. When Matty made his move, he let him go infront but fought back to battle with him in the stretch and win by a short head.}

Jewel took advantage of a front-runner heavy field, biding her time and making her move perfectly. She has some good experience behind her, a nice workout, and this showed today.
Trouble tried hard, but he's not used to running how he was ran today. He did well, but he just couldn't quite pull it off although he managed to keep ahead of the quickly advancing Sugar Rush

Despite the fact that Lucy has more experience and a very impressive, Night used her aggressive nature to come out on top in this two horse race. She was able to concentrate on keeping Lucy back and there were a few times when Lucy's jockey had to lean away from the biting filly. Lucy is undeniably the more experienced filly and would have won if there had been another horse for Night to torture. Both fillies are competitive so the race was very close.}

I don't understand Brandy.

Lucy was better rested, more experienced, and had a specific workout for the race.

On the other hand, Midnight Sun raced last week - she had no specific workout for a major race, and she wasn't rested.

Why exactly did she lose?
