PARADISE ISLAND BACK WITH A VENGEANCE
Hello readers, it's Erin Taylor here, reporting for The Gallop here at Green Horse Fields. We have big news for you, Paradise Island has won the Independance Cup!
After the four-year-old filly broke through the gate and startled Jacey Leigh-Lanning before the start of the Independance Cup, Paradise Island settled - the vet gave her a quick go over before the start of the race and it was confirmed that she was good to go, and with good to go, I mean win the race, almost equalling the track record and beating Euphoria's Warrior and Flashy Wings by seven lengths. Jacey looked stunned when she came into the winners circle after the wild display of rearing and bolting from the filly - it appeared evident that she was ready to go and seriously frustrated for not having a win to her name. The filly, who has 23 wins in 46 starts looks likely to race as a five year old, to try and tackle the younger generation of horses in her way - Jacey Leigh Lanning is hoping she can continue to perform as well as she is doing, so she can hopefully be inducted into the hall of fame in years to come.
Jacey Leigh Lanning has said, "I was shocked when Paradise Island did what she did, it wasn't like her at all but she will be having a couple of weeks rest before her next start."
When asked what races looked likely for the filly, she said, "We are looking towards the Who's More Youthful Stakes, Kiss Your Title Stakes, and the Senior Superstars Finale. We are also looking into the Dubai Filly Cup, and possibly the Dubai World Cup too. To top it off, she has been nominated for the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic at the end of the year, and looks a likely contender for the classic next year."
So, will the filly remain at her peak, or is her future looking bleak? That's all from me.
This is Erin Taylor, reporting for, the Gallop.
