October was already here it had seemed like yesterday it was July and Remi won three races in just under one month. She was the sprinter of her grade and she was throwing eyes her way. Her last race was the Eagle Cup where she placed right behind Crowned Queen and ahead of Tears No More. She was the first Radiance foal on ground and she was proven her lines well. But, she was a juvenile and still had a lot to do. She was stunning to look at both off the tracks and on. The jockey who rode her was Meredith Hently the one and only who shared a bond with the filly.
October was just around the corner and Remi would be taking on a similar field to that of September Week 4. She was entered into the Salamon Stakes who had many other opponents to look out for. This week she was once again racing against Optimus Unstoppable owned by Cold Creek Inc. He was sired by Shiver me Timbers out of Train Wreck he was coming back to the racing community just as Remi was. Gate Two was Nature Blue's own Reflected in Water, Gate three took on Witch Creek's Mourning Passion, a black colt by Tempered Passion our of Breeding HoF's Requiem. This colt would simply be the target on the track as a miler he took advantage over sprinters. Gate Four was the last entry, Crimson Fatalis by Muffin Man out of Gone Crimson. This colt was owned by recently returned Intrepid Racing Inc.
Each of these horses came from marvelous lines but, they would soon meet the flirtatious wrath of Reflected in Water. As a filly of Cry out Chaos she means business on the tracks. She was dual surfaced and with an extension she took on 6-10 Furlongs. She was already proudly prancing onto the track where her small form glided gracefully on the dirt. Meredith took the reins in her hands where she got comfortable. "Alright girl let's fly out there huh?" She asked a silly question as the light bay filly took off into a gallop that wasn't so hard. She took breaths through her nostrils and where Meredith's vision grew nervously on the back of this animal she moved the filly away from the railing.
Meredith knew better then to under estimate any horse out in the field. She would make sure Remi would be ready to gain her strength for this race. But the girl was just warming up before she kicked up a notch to the second turn of the track. Remi would be taking on longer races with her extension and would definitely be a bully out there. She darted off within seconds of approaching the back stretch and was still taking it easy as Meredith waited to let her filly loose. It wasn't long until a new opponent came from behind them during this workout. While still in full speed Meredith glanced upon her workout buddy to see Lawrence Kaine on the back of Jazzaway.
The black 3 year old was by Jazzman out of Point Away. He had recently held a scare at the stables with his sprain injury that seemed to be running smoothly nowadays. The colt was also dual surface but one grade up then the Juvenile. He was a miler known for taking on the dirt tracks more then the turf. He was entered into the Elephant Cup as a race to see of his come back race. The colt approached Remi from the inside and Meredith shook her head towards Lawrence who had not wanted nothing more then a competition.
Reflected in Water ignored her challenger beside her. She was here to win and focus on the race. She through her ears back as she then used her style to precede onto Jazzaway who was a front runner. She slowed her pace as Jazz kept his steady motion of the front. Meredith tightened her grip onto the reins holding close to the back of the filly's neck and as the two passed the last pole Reflected in Water took off into a full gallop. Jazzaway was right on her tail but, caught up to her side as Lawrence then slowed the colt down so he would not put any more heat onto his leg, as this was only a workout.
Reflected in Water passed the wire with a massive nicker from her throat. When she did slow down Meredith moved the filly to walk back towards Lawrence and Jazzaway. She smiled moving her goggles from her eyes. "Did you really have to sneak up on us like that?" She said with a sarcastic remark near the end. "Well I was trying to catch you before you came to the tracks but you move to quickly Meredith." Lawrence said as he took Jazzaway off from the middle of the track and slid off the colt to check his ankle as it appeared to be fine.
"He did really good out there Lawrence I wouldn't worry about a thing." Meredith said worrying the same thing Lawrence was. It was scary to see a horse with a leg injury as it could be the end of the horses career or life depending on the injury. However, the vet had given the right away. Meredith also was off of Remi and took the reins by the bit before placing her other hand to gently praise Remi, by petting her muzzle and nose with a gentle touch. The two then took both filly and colt back to the stables and rest before the races started.
