It's almost Derby Time!

.:.The Bugle calls you to the Gate,
In your ears your heart begins to Race,
Astride this Horse you prepare for Fate,
Accepting nothing less than First Place.
Leap quick, the Bell it Sounds,
Lightning speeds and Dirt Flies,
The Gate opens and loose the Hounds,
From Stands packed come the Cries.
The Kentucky Derby run here at Churchill Downs,
The Horses making the ground quake
To see which one might claim the Crown,
Moving onto the Preakness Stakes.
A Nation sits enthralled with Hope,
The Roses and the Susans glow with Pride,
A dangerous road for the Winner to Cope,
The Belmont must come in Stride.
The Triple Crown, elusive still
None since Affirmed have won,
And yet every May the crowds will mill,
Waiting on the Starter's Gun.:.
