THE RISING jockeyed by Carlos Sanchez
December Workout
December Workout
The end of the year was here and that meant the Breeder's Cup was just around the corner. The Rising was knacking for a workout since September and he was doing pretty good for his 4th year. Carlos wanted to take him on an easy workout so he could get him ready for this month. The Rising came from Witch Creek and Carlos wanted his potential to go further. The stallion was on full pride this morning and he was with a positive attitude. Walking him out Carlos praised him as he took him out steady to stretch out his muscles.
The Rising did things on his own accord but of course Carlos managed to get his mood up there. He trotted the colt upon the first start of the track. "Okay Ri let's put these long legs to action huh?" He said as he then moved the colt to a small gallop. He would be against Nature's Blue own King's Ransom and a few others during week two and he would definitely take on the breeders cup the end of the month. The Rising would race until his 5th year come until the middle of Y14. The colt was magnificent and Carlos moved with the bay horse as he preceded onto the middle of the track.
The Rising was a 17 foot machine and the shoulders on him alone could be seen from a distance. This week The Rising was placed into a lower race something to get him built up for the Breeders Cup. Their would be a lot of high potential racers out there and Carlos wanted Ri to be ready. The colt moved with hasty movement as he then pushed forward along the back stretch not feeling any lesser than before. Ri was pumped and Carlos held onto the reins to let the animal do his work. Horses were smarter then people gave them credit for.
He passed the furlong he was suppose to and Carlos had the stallion come to a trot to slow down. Carlos felt that The Rising had a good run and was proud to be his jockey. Gently patting the horse on his shoulder for confidence Carlos walked Ri off the track and headed back to the stables. The new year was going to be tough with training the yearlings and the new horses being added to the racing barn. Carlos would be ready and he was sure the son to the HoF's The Natural would be as well.
