REFLECTED IN WATER Jockeyed by Meredith Hently
December workout
December workout
December was the month to watch out for and Reflected in Water would be back to the tracks after some rest. She had failed to place in the top three in the first week of November at the AJR Sires Produce Stakes as well as the Just a Trot Futurity. It was now four weeks and the filly was able to live as a horse within those 4 weeks off but, with plenty of hot walking routines and steady feeding schedule the filly always seemed prepared to do her job. She was set to run in the Breeder's Cup at the end of the year and would be ridden by her jockey Meredith Hently since the two had bonded.
Remi had an okay racing record as she approached G4 in her 2 year old season it was magnificent to see a filly of her age reach that caliber. Meredith was pleased with the Radiance daughter's performance and while the last two losses on her record was worth it. Meredith always said you learned from your losses but she was never to cocky with it. First Remi would race in week 2 to get her used to the track again and this time she would be up against a marvelous colt, Tears No More. Meredith did her homework and she knew this colt's knack for revenge.
Reflected in Water would be in the first gate a number the filly held proudly on her saddle. Remi was also the daughter of Cry Out Chaos a known sprinter on the track who happened to be a sister of Deabuelle and a Palisades Silver blood. She was a G3 mare with a feisty attitude. Remi picked up on her stubborn nature and her sire's flirtatious attitude which in turn had Meredith worried for Trouble. Remi enjoyed her flirting but on the track she would get into the race.
Gate two was Tears No More, a wonderful animal who certainly had what it takes to beat anyone. He was racing under In Stride Racing's colors and was looking rather dashing. It had seemed the two filly and colt would be facing off again in a dual on the battle of the sexes. Both these horses had attitudes that seemed to be chilling to Meredith herself.
She was already mounted on the filly when the it seemed everyone else was just breezing their horses, Meredith wanted to get her ready for this race. Tears No More had his own little move on the track and Remi would have to push herself or sneak up from behind to pass this colt. The filly trotted away to follow another horse on the track before glistening away to a canter for the first turn. Remi had her own specific moves which didn't come until near the end. She let everything go until the last stretch where she was in a full gallop maneuvering away from the other horses on the track.
Remi was moving rather swell and looked forward to see an opening for speed. Preceding on Reflected in Water gave what her jockey wanted and that was to move faster and steady. She needed to keep on heels with Trouble and she would do it without causing harm to anyone or tiring herself out. The filly gained more speed with the final turn with a happy nicker she turned loose at the last furlong before passing the wire. Her three year old season would be even more tougher.
After the finish Meredith was pleased with the results. This speed machine was doing what she wanted. Race day would prove the results and Meredith would accept any challenges coming her way. This filly was a fighter and she would attack with full force when the time was right. In Stride would have a show on their hands.
