Breeder's Cup Workout

FINDING OXYGEN

It was that time of year the one that Meredith was counting on. It was Breeder's Cup time and she had finally made it here and would be riding a Radiance daughter into it. It was the end of the year, the end of year thirteen which meant the horses of Nature Blue's would be aging and to take on better races. Meredith had entered the juvenile barn and saw all the thoroughbreds inside and smiled. She was here for only one of them, the blazed bay filly Reflected in Water. She grabbed the lead rope off the wall and opened the stall door to Remi's stall. "Hey Remi how's my gorgeous girl?" Meredith said feeding her some crunched up carrots to get her motivated.

She pulled the filly out of the stall and headed towards the equipment shed to grab the saddle and the proper attire for the workout. Reflected in Water would be running in the Juvenile Dirt Sprint against her greatest rival Tears No More who will be racing under In Stride's colors. These two had been neck and neck this juvenile year and Meredith would need to work her way to outsmart Trouble. Trouble always pulled to the front and Remi was a preceder she would need to be in top notch. The other horses among this race was Sugar Rush, a Sweet Sugar Cane daughter who also preferred the front. Gate two was one of the favorites Crowned Queen another preceder with the winnings of the Eagle Cup, and the Magic Millions Fillies Turf Sprint. And last bu not least was Alucard running for Stride of Perfection stables.

Meredith pulled herself onto the back of the filly who pounded her hooves onto the ground with an impatient canter. This was the breeder's cup, it wasn't just a normal race it was a race that gave many their victory. It was the race that proved how they did throughout the year. Remi started out on its peak but with much work and well chosen races the first born Radiance daughter was proving her lineage true. Reflected in Water came from known lines such as HoF True Enough and Palisades Silver both proven lines. Both jockey and filly approached the track as the sun just barely rose over the mountains.

The filly was wide awake and trotting onto the track had her well managed. "Okay Remi just a nice little workout okay let's not push hard today." Meredith said as she gripped the reins as she then clicked her tongue to move Remi into a gallop. The filly was a sprinter with one extension. She enjoyed to run and disliked being locked in the stable for long periods. She pulled herself away from the railing as if she already knew what to do without being driven towards the direction. She had already passed a couple of others practicing this morning gaining confidence as she turned loose at the last corner.

Meredith could only laugh towards the speedy horse and her improvement. Remi was growing up and Meredith was certainly proud of her. She pulled through to the homestretch where she used up some of her energy not using all of it so she could save her best for the race. Within minutes Remi and her rider passed the wire with joy. She had slowed to a rising rear. "Woah! Easy girl settle down we made it." She said rubbing the filly on her shoulder before giving her a gentle pat. Meredith walked the filly off the track to get cleaned up and prepared for the race in a couple of days. She was a wildfire and Meredith was always pleased with her. Her results at race day would do as Meredith would pray for this win after her splendid improvement over this year Meredith wanted this win for her filly.

GS SUPERCHARGED Jockeyed by Chris Stevens
Breeder's Cup Marathon Workout

DASHING THROUGH

Breeder's Cup was finally here and the crowd would be wired. Chris Stevens could hear Ben hollering from the office and shook his head with a laugh. He looked at the clock and figured it was time to take him out to stretch his legs. The Admiral's Revenge son would definitely not be so friendly on the track and Chris knew so. He would have to take Ben out on the outside and slowly take him out until he felt comfortable. He approached Ben with slow movements before praising him upon getting on his back.

The Breeder's Cup Marathon was the race Ben was entered into and he would be up against a few relatives but, that never really affected Ben. In gate one was Lusitania's Soldier a son to Akuma Battlecry out of Lusitania. This horse was a G2 closer who really was already a splendid colt. Ben would be pushing with his cousin and this was the horse that would be difficult coming from lines of Admiral's Revenge, War Admiral, and HoF True Enough himself. Midnight Thriller held Gate two. This filly had guts but, she certainly was a filly to watch. She had a bad temper which Ben saw as a competition, she was a stalker out on the track and could be proven dangerous. A daughter to Night Stalker out of HoF El Sol Del Mar.

Gate Three was one other filly to watch out for. She was Ben's aunt and a Stalker like Night Stalker. BelleFire was her name and a true daughter of War Admiral out of Vintage. She had a rough few years being moved between stables but, finally ended up back at home for Intrepid Racing. Indian Darling was in Gate Four, a daughter to Native Flame, was a highly potential filly. The last two gates after Ben's were Fire Dancer and Sweet Inferno both also great horses to watch out for.

Chris had his work cut out for him and needed Ben to be ready. It seemed everytime Chris took Ben out he ran better then next, the horse loved to run it was in his blood. He trotted Ben out who seemed rather angry this evening. "Easy there boy..It's okay." He said holding on tight towards Ben's aggressive movements. After a few minutes Ben bobbed his head before straightening himself out to gallop late into the first few furlongs.

Ben pounded the ground throwing the dirt behind him. Chris was demanding nothing from the equine he did his job perfectly. Ben needed no assistance he was a machine working to please his owner. The bay colt bolted off into the back stretch finding his stride instantly as he pushed away again. GS SuperCharged had a tough race ahead of him and Chris would love for Ben to win this one even with the competition on the track, Chris had faith. Ben took on the Canadian Triple Crown and remained in the top three each time and won the Novisio Derby.

He came to the final pole and gave another gear to race towards the finish with a high determination. Ben had come far in his career and would be expected to become a G1 next year. He was a wonderful colt but a very aggressive one. He passed the wire with a snort. "Their you go boy. You did it." Chris said as he took Ben back to the stables to rest for race day tomorrow.

JAZZAWAY Ridden by Lawrence Kaine
Breeder's Cup Classic Workout

Classical Jazz

The end of the year was an amazing look after for Lawrence Kaine. He was always glad to move onto a new year. Jazzaway was his horse to deal with today as he loved the black colt by Jazzman. Jazzaway had a placement in the Breeder's Cup Classic one with many other entrants. The black colt was already prepared and ready to go. He had suffered an ankle sprain only a few months ago and with his return he had won a few races making a comeback. Lawrence was proud of Jazz and would make a better effort as a 4 year old next year to become a G1.

Jazzaway would be up against the finest horses in this title. Horses such as Paradise Island, Euphoria's Warrior, Red Herring, Flashy Wings, and more. Including Jazz their would be seven horses running that's a large amount. Lawrence would do the same thing he had done for quite some time and let Jazz follow the path of the track and gain his speed. Jazzaway was a known front runner favoring both Dirt and Turf tracks. Jazzaway was a stubborn colt never listening to any one of his handlers, he let Lawrence on his back and would gracefully glide down the track without ever listening to his jockey.

Jazzaway's sire Jazzman had won the Breeder's Cup Mile in his racing days and now would be a time for Jazz to also try to walk in his father's footsteps. The two were off onto the track Jazz immediately heading into the lead running like a monster. He would be pushed to his greater limits and Jazzaway would need to save his energy for the last seconds of the last furlong. Lawrence would pull Jazz back along the end of the back stretch and when no one would expect it Jazzaway would take his lead back with no hesitation.

However, he would be on the look out for Paradise Island that mare was magnificent but he would also be on edge with the pace presser Red Herring that colt was beautiful and beyond a tremendous horse for Witch Creek. Jazzaway just had a nasty attitude and disliked others who challenged him. The colt used other's for his advantage and Lawrence knew that it could be dangerous. He pushed his horse around the corner picking up more speed.

He made it very clear that he meant business and would fiercely fight his way to the finish no matter who he was up against. Lawrence wouldn't push him to hard he knew his ankle could buckle again and would let him run his own pace. He passed the wire with him snorting his way through the silent victory. Jazzaway was Lawrence's favorite the colt was his own horse. He would make his title and would pray for this win in the Breeder's cup.

MIDNIGHT SUN Ridden By Terri Lane

SUNNY'S WAY

Midnight Sun had not had a workout in awhile and Terri felt it was time for one again. She was entered into the Breeder's Cup and it was one very much needed. Night was a very tall filly standing at 17hh, she was a monster. When she ran it could be heard. Her lines were unknown but she has come to accomplish a lot in her seasons with both In Stride Racing and Nature Blues. The filly won a leg of the Triple Sprint Tiara which was an accomplishment for Nature Blues and Midnight Sun.

Terri Lane was still getting acquainted with the filly. She was a sprinter and with her height it took her awhile to find her speed until the end. The filly liked to take the lead immediately after the gate but, she does break fast after the start. She was an incredible horse. The filly pounded the ground with hesitation as she started with a canter. "Okay Night we can do this." She said rubbing the fillies neck as the horse moved with her head held high and body moving sideways. Midnight Sun would be up against horses such as Mastermind, Canjun Moon, Forbidden to Fly, and Aquatic Addiction.

She started away after warming up her muscles and would gracefully take off immediately into a full pace. Terri held onto for dear life as Night trampled the ground where it could be heard from across the tracks. Once the filly took off it would be hard to catch her but Terri feared that Mastermind would have her challenged. Mastermind was a stalker he could come from any direction from any side. That would be Terri's watch out on the track Forbidden to Fly remained in the mid-pack and the others were closers.

Terri would still not under estimate any horses on this track. She moved Night away from the railings and pushed to her continue without hesitation. "Just like the Tiara Night push through the pain you can be free." She said holding onto the reins as Night came passed the last furlong pole. Ears pinned down Midnight Sun then gave another gear to her monstrous legs and pushed off the dirt to march to the finish and claim her stride. She was the only front runner out in this field and she would prove her gender proud.

THE RISING Jockeyed by Carlos Sanchez
Breeder's Cup Turf Marathon Workout

RISING TRIUMPH

It was midday and it was the best time to work The Rising out for the Breeder's Cup Turf Marathon. He would be ridden by Carlos Sanchez one who could actually tolerate the stallion. The dual surfaced colt was the son of the HoF The Natural out of Warm Wishes who was the dam of G1 Stallion Beyond the Limits. The Rising is also a brother to HoF Wildly Natural and Born to Soar. The stallion approached the track with a proud glare. The Breeder's cup Turf marathon would take on The Rising who won the Sillenia stakes, Rocktastic Derby, Intipidio Finish Derby, and many others.

His opponents were just as bold as Ri was. Standing in Gate one was Dazzling Dame the preceder from Witch Creek Stables. The Jessie James daughter held her own and was a tough filly that fought her way to the top. Gate two held another Witch Creek horse, Hokum by Kore VS out of Rosalind. Hokum was the front runner he would break immediately into the lead. His winnings include the Summer Cup Grade Four Turf, TW Provincia Derby, and such others. Princetta of Intrepid Racing took Gate three, was the daughter of Hail to Prince out of Blanchette. Infinite Warcry took the last gate the closer of the bunch.

Carlos started Ri into a trot getting him prepared for a much faster pace.
