The new year races were here and Green Horse Fields was very busy or so at least the practice tracks were with everyone training the yearlings and working out their juveniles. Meredith Hently invited Carlos along so he could train Noah's Radiance with Meredith and Reflected in Water. Both horses were half siblings with two different personalities. Reflected in Water was now a three year old and a grade 4. She placed out of the money five times. She had a spectacular juvenile season and her three year old season will be tough especially with her rival Tears no More.
Her first race of the year was the January Dirt Stakes where she was the only entrant so far. After this she would be entered in the Unicorn Horn Dirt Sprint where her dam Cry Out Chaos won the series. Meredith awaited Carlos who rode the flirty colt Noah's Radiance, the energetic guy pranced out onto the track like he was a proud king. Noah was entered into the Quickdraw Maiden in the third week of January where he would be entered next to Durango Racing's Crackerjack. Both bay's stood proudly next to each other as Remi nipped at her brother with a dominant whinny. "Hey Remi be nice." She said looking to Carlos before she started off with a trot. "We want Noah to gain his confidence and Remi here will help out or they will help each other out." She said as Carlos nodded his head and had Noah follow.
"Noah has what it takes I have full confidence." He said as Noah flickered his head a bit feeling the dirt beneath his hooves. Remi was a medium classed filly and Meredith was aiming for her to head to the Triple Crown, well the sprinter Triple Tiara if not the crown. The two took off and Noah took off slowly as Remi went at a steady pace. in a matter of minutes Noah began to pick up speed after Remi took the lead for the first few furlongs. The bay filly however would not give up her prideful position and tuned up another gear. "Come on Girl let's teach them a little something about girl power." She said as they moved along the back stretch and Remi began to pull forward her strides as easy as pie. Noah began to pull back and while he was the one to stay close to the rail as Remi remained in the center.
The echoed hooves could be heard from the stands as both siblings became neck and neck. Reflected in Water had a distance extension which allowed her to run up to 10 furlongs instead of 9 while Noah was a miler he could exceed. Sprinters were just as powerful. The final turn broke and the blazed bay filly flickered her tail and began to sharpen her strides farther. She would not tire and she ached Noah to push as she did she was a headstrong filly but, she was not a common bully like her mother. Noah was a sweet boy spunky as Carlos put him and on his back he felt great upon the Radiance son.
"Come on Noah we can do it boy." Carlos said not letting this filly he was against take him for granted. Noah gathered his stride and while he was a rookie colt to the tracks Remi decided to push on her last stride and go for the moment to jump a few lengths ahead passing the wire. Reflected in Water bobbed her head when she came to a walk and Carlos and Noah trotted close by as Meredith smiled. "That was a great run. Don't worry about him Carlos." She said with a smile rubbing the fillies neck and laying down on her back to wrap her arms around the filly to hug her. "Way to run your race girl." She said as Carlos hopped off Noah and grabbed some oats to feed the continuous hungered colt.
"I do not worry for Noah when he feels he is ready he will fly out there." He said grabbing the reins and pulling him off the track. Meredith rode Remi off the track until heading in the back, taking off the saddle to replace it with a blanket. Meredith would hope for the best for both horses and while Carlos has been with Nature Blues for awhile he still had a lot of horses to run like the other jockey's. These were the workouts for two weeks Remi's work for week two and Noah's for Week three. This was one of their best work yet and both would pray for their winnings.
