Insanity Plea

Jockey: Jackson Lincoln
Trainer: Matthew Oliver
Making his first steps into the racers barn, Matthew made his way down the long dark floor on his way to the end of the barn to a stable labeled "Insanity Plea". Inside was an aggressive stallion who was next on the trainers list of workouts this morning. Although with Eli, Matthew always had to be careful, for it was hard to predict what kind of mood that the chestnut colt would be in, and if it would be one that would allow Matthew to get done what he wished to with the colt. After all, his first race would be in less then a week, and both Eli and his jockey needed to be ready.
"Are you ready?" Matthew asked as Jackson --Eli's jockey-- approached. He gave a brisk nod to let Matthew know that he was ready for the workout. Jackson wasn't a huge talker, so the fact that he didn't say anything was normal, and not something to worry about.
Opening the top door of the stall, Matthew could see that Eli was in a moderator docile mood, so it should be easy --or easier than normal-- to get him ready for his workout.---
Once at the track, Matthew stood at the railing as Jackson mounted the agitated colt as he nipped a little at Jackson as he threw his leg over the large racers back. At the moment, Matthew, Jackson, and Eli where the only ones on the track, which was a good thing due to the fact that Eli had a tendency to get aggressive around other horses, especially colts and stallions. And with Eli being the only one on the track, he would be able to pay much more attention on improving his racing skills, because working on his aggression on the track was a problem to be tackled on another day.
Once mounted, Jackson motioned for Eli to move forward and onto the track. Starting at a trot, Eli gracefully moved to a canter as he rounded the first turn, steadily gaining speed the further down the track he got. Gracefully gliding across the tracks green turf surface with large strides. From a distance, Eli was a beautiful and magnificent animal, it was hard to believe just how aggressive that he got around most humans and horses.
Rounding the last turn, and making his way to the end of the track, Eli had picked up amazing speed, and finished the track on a personal best record. Hopefully, Eli would do as well as he did today as he will when the first race of his racing career comes around soon.
