Daddy's Overdraft was a tremendous filly that remained undefeated in her first two starts at Durango Racing, but when the barn mysteriously closed with no warning, the filly came back to where she belonged. Jacey regretted selling her after she saw how well she was doing, and she had come back to In Stride Racing in great fashion. After seeing the filly was entered in a Unicorn Horn race, she decided to keep her in. She was originally going to still race under Ariel Paisley, but the filly was taken back and Ivana was chosen to ride the filly. Ivana's luck was perfect. Cobweb was stunning, she had got a perfectly consistent record, and Jacey knew she was capable of good things. The field for the race was strong, but that wouldn't stop Cobweb from running her heart out. Jacey skimmed over the race entrants for the race to see that it was a very good race full of potential. Ivana and Cobweb would start in Gate One. This would be great so they would break fast and get into position on the rail.
Cobweb is full of heart. She enjoys racing whenever she is on the track. She's great with her riders. She is eager to please everyone and anyone. She is an energetic firecracker on the track. She loves to lay low in the race and then make a strong move near the end, surprising all the lead horses. She enjoys being on the track. She is a strong and happy go lucky competitor. She will break really quickly but then drop back a couple of lengths to about third or fourth. She will linger there and as she nears the four furlong mark. Ivana will then take her wide and she will begin to creep along the outside so she knows she won't get blocked. She will then fly down the centre of the track and close with tremendous speed using the momentum she preserved lingering. Gate Two held the lovely filly, In The Spotlight. The filly had an amazing two year old season, she won the Magic Millions Fillies Turf. She was good as she had raced in many major races. It'd appear that those two would race hammer and tongues together for the rest of the year, but Jacey didn't want Cobwebs lightly raced record to throw her off. Innie raced as a front runner so she would dominate the pace.
Gate Three held Acantha, the filly who won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The filly was a very strong lass and she had won many races. She beat a lot of the top horses to win the Juvenile Fillies Turf, including In The Spotlight. Acantha was a variable runner, she could race as a front runner or a closer, but it wasn't certain what she'd be racing as tomorrow in the race. The filly was very strong and she was definitely one to watch. Then came probably the best filly Jacey had ever come across, Prima Donna. This filly was perfect and she had the record to prove it. She had six wins to her name in sixteen starts, and even though she had more experience, Jacey was determined that her filly could match up the challenge with this filly. Prima Donna raced as a stalker, so she would be in behind In The Spotlight and she will be a couple of lengths in front of Cobweb.
Next came the filly, Lost in Memories. The filly was under new ownership after she was not raced under us due to a tendon injury, but she had since filly recovered and she was ready to race again. Her first start had proved a third place finish over at The Wire, where she had placed second this time last year. The filly was a very good filly who raced as a mid-pack or closer. Jacey hoped that she would drop behind Ivana and Cobweb. Finally there was the Star Thoroughbreds colt, King George. He was a good colt who had only won twice but he just hadn't had chance to prove himself yet. He was a very good colt and Jacey had a feeling he could prove them all wrong. He raced as a front runner or a preceder, so it seemed he would be right up there with In The Spotlight.
Cobweb stood peacefully in her stable, flickering her ears back and forth as Ivana gently ran the brush over her porcelain white coat. After picking her feet out, Jacey walked over and leant on the door. Cobweb raised her head and pricked her ears before walking over to Jacey. 'Hey sweetie,' she said to the filly, stroking her soft nose. 'She's in a good mood today, think she's glad to be back, personally.' Ivana said. She smiled. 'Can you pass me her tack over please Jay?' Ivana asked. Jacey came back and passed the tack over the door. She placed the saddle on the fillie's back and she perked up. Cobweb snorted and pawed the shavings in the stable. She then put the bridle on and slipped the waterford snaffle into the fillies mouth. Cobweb chomped as Ivana fastened the straps on the bridle.
She threaded the girth through the martingale and fastened it to hole three, perfect. She took her hat off the side and picked her crop up. Jacey opened the door and let Ivana lead the filly through. She took her out onto the stable block, where she mounted onto the beautiful grey filly. She placed her feet in the stirrup irons and walked her through the yard towards the turf track that was there before her. Cobweb had a lovely bounce in her step and since she'd left the stable, her ears had remained pricked. She walked out onto the turf and Ivana spun her into a couple of circles to warm her up.
Jacey strided over and smiled. 'She's looking very well. Let's see if she can remain her undefeated self for this next race.' Jacey knew it would've been unlikely, but she was hoping for atleast third in the race, so she could still be in the money and prove her filly was very good and that she would run in the Turf Triple Crown. She wanted to be as successful as Bella Luna this year, and Jacey Leigh was determined that she would become the turf champion that Matthias Lanning would've wanted. Jacey was heart broken after her husband died but she still had her beautiful daughter, Amira. Mira, as she was known as round the stable yard came walking up. She was now just turned nine and she had beautiful blonde hair like her father.
Jacey watched as Ivana took the filly round the track at a trot and as they came to the eight furlong pole, she let her rock into a steady canter. She felt perfect, strong and elegant. She had matured in height and width, and the amount of muscle she had gained was unbelievable. The filly breezed gently across the turf, flexing. She had been working well every week and she was perfect and ready. Ivana smiled and rocked with the filly. She worked well as she gently glided across the soft turf surface. The spring air was pristine and the filly pricked her ears. As they rounded the turn, Ivana niggled at the rein and the response was instant. The filly picked up speed and put her heart into it as they entered the home stretch.
Ivana gave her a hand ride and the filly galloped elegantly, pushing herself and stretching out as much as she could, and as she galloped down the stretch and over the line, Jacey's jaw about hit the floor. Mira looked at her mother and gasped. 'Woah...' she said. The filly's rest over winter had paid off and with the right amount of work, Jacey knew that the TTC would be in the fillies sights. Cobweb trotted back, ears pricked and muscles rippling under the sun. It was going to be a great race and Jacey knew it. The filly didn't sweat, she was just warm and raring to go. Ivana grinned. 'She's working really well, I think she's ready. I'm glad we've got her back,' she said, smiling. She dismounted and walked her back into the barn. They were ready to take on In The Spotlight and Prima Donna.
