FLAMING CONFIDENZA Jockeyed by Terri Lane
UNICORN HORN SERIES WORKOUT
UNICORN HORN SERIES WORKOUT
Terri Lane was happy to be back on the track and working it was what she wanted to do since she was child. Walking towards the stalls she noticed Flaming Confidenza already ready to go for this workout. Walking over to her she rubbed her nose gently. "Alright Denza just a small work today." She said wanting the filly to take it easy today. The palomino was maturing well however she was still a juvenile and her yearling attitude still lingering. She still had much to learn but she was eager to run and get going.
The blonde filly had ran her first race at the wire and placed. She was a watchful horse as she was a daughter to Confianza a Grade 3 stallion who won the Kentucky derby back in 2009 along with the Preakness Stakes winning two legs of the triple crown was impressive. Denza is out of Dashing in the Firelight who won the Consumato Derby and the Palm Tree Paradise Invitational. Denza's parents were very high stakes horses and Denza was looking to match them in her path. Terri struggled to get the filly out onto the track however when reaching the track the filly approached with a whole different attitude pretending to be a lady.
Flaming Confidenza had the potential to take on the dirt Triple crown or even the Dirt Triple Tiara and that was Terri's goal for her. Trotting her out with more unwilling pulls from the filly that she turned up the heat and took off with an early speed. She was not wanting this person on her back and would do anything to get her to get but would not cause a scene. Denza then began to relax her nerves a bit as she felt every inch of this track burning her muscles and pulling her deeper into victory.
Terri steadied the reins in her hands and then asked for a slower pace as Denza ignored her to get this day over with. Running 9-12 furlongs in the Unicorn Horn series would be tough against her opponents. She wanted to be the queen out there and so she moved her strides apart as she moved with a different stride each time as she threw the dirt behind her to prove herself meaning business. The back stretch approached with haste and Denza pulled forward running as fast as she possible could.
Denza came along the final turn to get her last speck of energy out of her. She had the legs on her and she was a racehorse after all running was her pleasure. She held her own when Terri had her switch to a lower pace and the filly rose her head keeping her strides even. Terri would bring this filly to greatness as she pushed through the wire Terri shook her head at the way Denza pulled through and didn't listen while her stubbornness needed to be worked on. Terri did have time and she would be patient with a filly like this. She walked her back to the stall so the filly could be to herself after being fed her treats.
