Ghost Rider & Sammie Pickett
The chestnut filly stepped on to the soft dirt for the first time under Firestone’s ownership. She held her head high, keeping her ears perked as she gathered in her surroundings. Jockey Sammie was the new filly’s rider and she already thought that Gia was a promising filly. Her chrome and markings were a definite eye-catcher when she stepped onto the track, and Firestone’s black and red tack really made her pop. Sammie allowed her to look around for a second to get used to the new barn. The filly was muscular in shape, already thinking she was a stud, and with a couple of great works, she'd be well on the way to success in her first race. Gia shifted his weight and Sammie slowly eased her forward.
Carter had informed her that Gia’s maiden starter was 8 furlongs on dirt, and that she wanted a breeze of 5 furlongs. Sammie took note of that, but she also took note of Carter. Teammate Talia knew something was up between the two and Sammie couldn’t help but smile. Yeah, she did hook up with Carter a few times, and oh boy did she ever like it, but she had to keep that business separate from the track. Still smiling, she squeezed the chestnut filly into an elegant trot. She lowered her head and tucked it in, flicking her toes out as she took the advantage to show off. Sammie stood up in her stirrups as the filly broke into a steady canter.
Her canter was smooth and lifted her knees high. She definitely had a good stride. Once she felt good, Sammie squeezed her forward a little more until the canter was now a steady gallop. The dirt was soft and fast, her hooves flinging the dirt back into their dust.
Asking for a higher speed, they made their way around the clubhouse turn. With each stride, Gia would snort. Racing was in her blood, and she loved the dirt. Gia felt amazing as she showed her the whip, but not touching the filly’s darkened flanks. Sammie began to fully urge Gia, and she pricked her ears and off they went, powering over the finish line and leaving Carter stunned. Sammie relaxed and stood high in the stirrups, patting Gia’s neck smiling. She knew that look Carter had on his face, and it was one hell of a thing that Gia did out there to make him look like that. She knew this filly was going somewhere fast.
