FLAMING CONFIDENZA Jockeyed by Terri Lane
THE UNDERDOG Jockeyed by Chris Stevens
THE UNDERDOG Jockeyed by Chris Stevens
The day was rough but Nature Blues had a long break from the tracks after a sudden sickness that some of the jockeys just got better. Terri Lane had just brushed the palomino filly that she was going to take out. Flaming Confidenza was a wonderful filly she was as tough as her dam before her. Denza was entered in the April Maiden Dirt during the second week of April. The other horse entered was Conquistadora for the new stables Blue Haven Stables. Terri saddled up the filly as she pounded the ground with her hooves in angst to go out. It would be a long run.
Snapping the lead rope onto the halter with the reins, Terri pulled the filly to follow her out of the stables and onto the dirt terrain beneath their feet. Not a moment later Chris Stevens approached with a tall stallion. "Hey Terri, don't mind if me and Danny here join you?" He asked politely Terri smiling towards the boys. "Not at all, Denza needs a champion to pull her threw. The Underdog will be a good couch for her." Terri said rubbing Denza's muzzle as she hopped up onto the filly's back. Chris did the same, Danny snorted towards the filly and they trotted away onto the track.
"Take her out towards the halfway mark don't push her yet go steady. Danny likes to come from behind and on the outside." Chris said giving Terri advice. Terri smirked as the two set ready to go. They took off within minutes the 17 hands tall stallion slowed his pace falling back the echoes of their hooves pounding the ground. Flaming Confidenza rose her tail to the opportunity, Terri keeping her at an evenly steady pace. She would naturally hide deep within the pack to make her final move at the end. After reaching the appropriate pole The Underdog began to make his stride as he pushed faster helping his rider glide on his back.
The Underdog made Denza look tiny but the filly matched strides with the War Admiral son. The Stallion bit into the bit in his mouth raising his head as Denza pushed herself farther using her tiny figure to stay strong. "Come on Denza show this old man what you got." Terri said in reference to The Underdog. The homestretch came to approach and Terri gave Denza another confident click of her tongue as the filly picked up more speed with the distance, Danny head on her heels. When they passed the wire The Underdog reared up with the hyper attitude.
"Good run Terri. Glad your feeling better." Chris said calming the retired stallion down after the good run. Terri then slid off of Denza and checked all four of her hooves and knees to see if their was any heat to them. She then looked to Chris "You too. You better get Fanny back to his stall before Angela tears you a knew one." Terri said grabbing the reins and pulling the palomino filly off the track. She was a spectacular filly and both of her sire and dam had a wonderful line.
