Jazz it up
All that Jazz
Alex laid a comforting hand on the young, fiery, pure black filly. Jazz let out a louder than necessary whinnie that nearly made Alex deaf. “I know Jazz, your life is so hard,” he laughed and turned the young coal colored filly towards the starting gate. Jazz loaded without a problem despite her very large brawny frame. Alex patted the fillies neck as they waited for the gates to spring open. Jazz ducked her head and cocked it to the side in an almost cocky way. The ebony filly was regally bred, and she knew she was something special. It seemed that wherever Jazz went, she always seemed to-- Jazz it up.
The gates flew open and the filly surged forward with powerful strides, sending dirt flying and leaving the gate in the dust.
Alex piloted his ebony tank around the first turn and onto the backstretch. Her muscles rippled with every perfectly calculated step, she had wonderful conformation, and an even greater stride. Just looking at the filly you knew something was special about her, she looked a bit more like a Quarter Horse than a Thoroughbred, and her skin looked like it was two sizes too small for her body.
The filly was scheduled to run in GHF’s next top race horse race 6, June week 1. She hadn’t set a hoof on the track since her last start back in February. There was no doubt that she wasn’t ready to go back out and do what she does best, run. It seemed impossible that the coal colored filly would ever be out of shape, she always seemed to be fit no matter how long she had sat in the yearling pasture at Grayson Meadows.
Rounding the final turn and into the home stretch Alex unleashed his monstrous black filly with a closing kick that would blow your mind. Acceleration was instant and it lasted all the way through the final stretch, passing two older horses doing their works.
Alex and Jazz hit the wire together, pulling up on the filly Alex patted her neck again.
“Let’s go Jazz up that prospect race, what do you think Jazz?” he said, and Jazz replied with a snort.
