As May comes to a close at Green Horse Fields and The Wire, Grayson Meadows has a lot of horses to be proud of. So without further adieu, here is our report on our lovely horses.
Horse Reports:
Call Me Crooked - This big bay filly was a purchase from Intrepid Racing’s annual sale, but was bought from Witch Creek Stables. Crook has done nothing but win since her purchase, under Grayson Meadows she has also graded up to Grade four. Our staff absolutely loves this filly with a bratty, yet cuddly attitude. Crook’s wins include the Follow The Hoofprints Juvenile Turf Sprint, and the Wannabeastar Turf Stakes. The filly is scheduled to run in the Tim Conway Stakes at The Wire, with team Grayson Meadows hoping the filly can keep up her winning streak.
Girl Talk - She is a newer purchase form the closing of Pigeon Bank Thoroughbreds. Girl Talk was saddled under the Grayson Meadows blue and black silks for the first time this week in the Vitiate Maiden, and her run with Andrew Martin in the irons was a winning one. The black roan filly with an unforgettable blinding white blaze will be seen again at The Wire in the Grade five Machine Stakes, June week 1. Grayson Meadows has high hopes for this filly to improve off of her maiden.
Honorary - One of Grayson Meadows’ original purchases to start our stable, Honorary earned a second place finish in her very first start, however things didn’t quite go her way after that. Honor had two out of money finishes in maidens, but when taken to The Wire’s track for her next attempt, Honorary shined bright and took home her very first win to become a Grade five runner. Our favorite dappled gray filly will be seen again in the Grade five Diamond Stakes at The Wire, June week 1.
My Kingdom Come - Another of Grayson Meadows’ originals, My Kingdom Come has brought home two second place finishes in her two race career so far. The blazing fast steel gray filly is expected to run again at The Wire in the Incarnadine Maiden, June week 1.
Lime Light - Our favorite lazy Chestnut around the barn, Lime Light’s career didn’t exactly get off to a flashy start. He almost always finished a nonthreatening dead last in his races, but when brought to The Wire, something clicked in the colt, his last place finishes were something of the past when he rolled home past his fellow stablemate, Silver Lining, in the Leave You In The Dust Maiden to a second place finish. Grayson Meadows’ is hoping that the colt can continue his current forum and possibly make his next outing a winning one. Lime is scheduled to run in the Startian Maiden, June week 3.
Silver Lining - With Ace, everything is unpredictable. He’s got the energy level for six thoroughbreds and has major issues focusing, but once he puts his mind to something, he can really do something amazing. Also didn’t get off to such a great start with large maiden fields, which he didn’t thrive too much on. He’s had two out of money finishings and returned a third place finish behind his stable mate Lime Light in the Leave You In The Dust Maiden. Every time he runs he keeps getting better, it’s just a matter of him learning what he’s supposed to do. Expect to see Ace in the Vancouver Maiden, June week 1.
Chatoyant - Also a newer purchase from Pigeon Bank Thoroughbred’s closing, the differently colored colt returned a very strong second place finish in his first race in Grayson Meadows’ silks in the Alberta Maiden. With a very impressive pedigree, its a wonder the colt hasn’t broke his maiden yet, but with two second place finishes and a third place finish, he’s bound to break it sometime soon. Tayo will be running again June week 1 in the Vancouver Maiden.
Daddy’s Overdraft - One of Grayson Meadows’ favorites, Daddy’s Overdraft has raced right into the hearts of our staff with her happy, firecracker personality. Purchased from the closing of In Stride stables, Daddy’s Overdraft has returned a second, first, and third place finish since Grayson Meadows’ purchased the grey filly. We couldn't be more proud of her with her third place finish in the Preakness Champion Stakes. We are hoping that she will be the horse to upset Dare to Impress’s Turf Triple Crown bid. She came out of the Preakness Champion in good shape and has gained a little weight in muscle mass, and we are expecting a big run from her in the Belmont Turf Classic.
White Rose - She’s a puzzle we have yet to figure out. Rose came out and put on a show in her very first race under Grayson Meadows’ colors, she won the Grade Five Concorde Stakes convincingly and then returned two dead last finishes after. We then moved her to a smaller field at The Wire and she returned a second place finish Veritas Stakes Race 1. Expect to see Rose again in the Grade Five Inhand Instyle Stakes at The Wire, June week 2.
Tears of Blood - Also Another purchase from the closing of Pigeon Bank Thoroughbred’s, Grayson Meadows was very lucky to get their hands on this 'big' chestnut horse. As of now, he is Grayson Meadows’ only Grade 1 horse that we own. He’s done us proud so far with two strong second place finishes and a first place finish. He most recently ran a strong second on the G1 Summer Cup Dirt Sprint, and before that he romped in the G5+ May Dirt Stakes as a comeback race, than before that he ran a second in the G1 Capricorn Stakes. Grayson Meadows is very proud of Happy and we hope that he can come back a winner in his next race over his preferred distance of seven furlongs, the
Royal Red Richard Memorial Stakes.
Immortal Flight - Nico joined our racing string towards the beginning of our massive buying spree. He hasn’t won a single race this season and his best showing in Grayson Meadow’s colors is a 3rd place finish in the May Turf Stakes, his other two races, he has finished out of the money. Steve is still trying to figure him out, and hopefully once he does, Nico can get a win this season. His next start is in the G3 Venus stakes, at Green Horse Fields.
Silver Secret - This flashy gray mare was a purchase from Intrepid Racing's annual sale. Just a day after her purchase, she won the G2 Zebra Stakes at Green Horse Fields. We attempted to move her up to some tougher competition in the Summer Cup, but it appeared the mare wasn’t ready and she finished 4th in the Grade Two Dirt. Steve is hoping a drop down to undercard races will get her back to winning again, we have hopes that she makes it to grade one by the end of the season (we have plans on retiring her). Expect to see her again, June week 2, in the G5+ June Dirt Stakes.
Passion Heart - A purchase from Nature Blue Stable’s, Passion Heart didn’t get off to the greatest start. Passion Heart didn't start her career off in the best place, her two year old season she failed to win a race and placed out of the money five times in her seven starts. Her three year old season was an improvement, with a win, a place, and two shows in her seven starts. The coal black mare has started to pick up the pace a little as she has aged more, in her six starts, she has placed out of the money once, and won three times. She’s done Grayson Meadow’s proud with an unexpected win in the Summer Cup Grade Five Turf, winning her first HOTY race, and graduating to Grade Four status. The win pushed her record to 19-4-3-4, and nearly doubled her previous earnings ($133,000), now $253,000. Expect to see Passion Heart June week 2, at The Wire, in the Grade Four Whipping By Stakes.
Newest Editions:
Grayson Meadows keeps expanding, and just a few weeks ago we added three new runners to our string, Stable Face Off Grade Four Turf Champion, Handsome Tabby, Turf Triple Crown hopeful, Dare to Impress, and Quick Cup Winner Allouette Divine.
We've also purchased three broodmares, Happenstance, Castle Siege, and Eclipse, along with the well known stud, Flash Limits.
