DAYDREAM & KALLIE SULLIVAN
MAJESTIC HERO & ISABELLE NOTTINGHAM
TINY DANCER & MAVERICK HARRIS
The three horses stamped impatiently as they waited for the signal from their jockeys. They'd been warmed up already and were ready to run. Tiny Dancer and Majestic Hero were on the verge of a mutiny when Bella finally spoke up. There she is. Felicity was running unusually late this morning. She'd wanted to watch the new horses run, especially Jester. He was the newest colt to the barn and already had an impressive record on the turf as a three year old.
Kallie was the first to break off from the little group on Daydream. The bay mare had age and experience over the other two and was the ideal anchor for this morning's breezing. Dancer had one race behind her, and being a prospect race, it did not entirely please OVS's owner that she had been neglected for this long. With some regular training, they hoped she might be able to break her maiden by the end of this year.
Jester and Dancer eagerly bounded off after the older mare and were soon settling into their spots. The two year old filly was having a harder time finding her pace due to her inexperience. But that's why they had the other horses there to guide her. Majestic Hero glided behind Rea with ease; being a stalker was his gig, always had been and always would be.
They finally reached the half mile mark before breaking into a gallop. They were only going a half mile today. It was to be an easy breezing as the two younger horses had been out of work for a little while. Daydream led the other two horses around the track, keeping a fast pace. Jester hounded behind the mare, eager to show his talent, and Dancer followed closely behind.
As they rounded the homestretch, the horses were starting to make their move. Daydream was slowing down slightly as her energy was being used up. Mav and Jester rushed forward, passing Rea with ease. Dancer was still struggling to untangle her feet, determined to keep up with the colt. They closed the distance to the mile marker and before they knew it, they were done.
Majestic Hero managed to pull ahead by two lengths, with Daydream coming in second. Dancer had finally figured out the pace and was almost along side Rea when they finished. Happy with their performance, Felicity looked forward to this week's races.
