Take it or leave it
Attractive Flight and Andrew Martin
Tears of Blood and Alex Shade
Happy pinned his ears at Matty and snorted in a angered way, throwing his head violently to speed up past his bay workmate. Wind whistled in everyones ears, it was a cooler day in October, normally a small sweat would have worked up on both of the older horses by now. However, it hadn’t seemed to bug either of them. Matty arched his neck and his eyes burned like fire. He was such a different horse from when he arrived, more competitive, he seemed to be picking it back up.
Happy on the other hand been doing quite well so far, he wasn’t Mastermind or Forbidden To Fly by any means, but he definitely was a horse that came to everyones mind when they thought about the better dirt and turf sprinters. He’d be facing off against Midnight Sun this time around, as a matter of fact, she was supposed to be bred to him Y15.
Matty would run in the winter cup the following week, he’d be facing off against Grayson Meadows’ own Allouette Divine, the improving Alucard, and Daydream. A very competitive field that Andrew knew that Matty could handle, he just had to focus him. So with that in mind, the recent addition of blinkers and trying a few new things Matty seemed to improve.
They quickly ran the two stallions through their warm-ups and soon they were loaded in the gate and the work had begun. They’d both broken well and we're starting off at a fairly quick pace. As a matter of fact they seemed to be at eachother more than usual today, Happy refused to let Matty make a fool of him, and refused to let his workmate get more than a head close to him. Happy toyed with him after a while, slowing down then speeding up, and Alex forced him to get back to the matter at hand. Dirt flew in their wake and the final turn approached quickly, Happy started to speed up but Matty was with him every step of the way. Happy thought that this would not do and when the homestretch opened up before them he rocked ahead of Matty leaving him in the dust. However Matty had other ideas, Matty chased after his workmate gamely, closing in on Happy’s three length lead. However in the end it wasn’t enough to catch up to him and in the end Happy came across the wire 1 length ahead of his improving stablemate.
