Jazza's Workout for the Get A Move On Derby
January week 2
Morning workouts were always the hardest it was cold and the sun had barely risen over the mountains and Sable had decided to start early and he was set to ride Firefall first. Yes, Firefall the new addition to Nature's Blues juvenile roster and the hard spun colt of Catching Fire out of Shooting Star, grandson of breeding hall of fame Admiral's Revenge. Sable approached the immature juvenile who seemed eager to get out of his stall and latched the leading rope onto his halter. Walking the dark bay colt out of the stall to get prepared for his workout they were crossed by Carlos Sanchez walking Jazzasoleil ever so quietly following behind.
Jazzasoleil was the daughter to Jazzman out of Sun Chaser, this filly was related keenly to Anodyne, The Wire's Canadian Triple Crown Winner. She would try her eyes on the Triple Tiara fierce as they come she had the spunk to do so. She held her head high towards the juvenile and flicked her tail like a whip in his direction as she soon then kept walking. Jazza won one horse of the year race last season and she would do an even better job at this one.
Firefall grew irritated with the filly at first before settling down not wanting a fight or a consultation. They would be taking the turf tracks this year and it would be a competitive field for both. Firefall was entered in the January Maiden Turf where he took the privilege of facing soon. Each horse entered were a prize especially A True Hero and First Class both wonderful turf lined horses. Thunder was a dual surfaced who would try out for the turf division like his father he would anything possible.
Both horses trotted out onto the turf tracks with fire in their hearts Carlos looked at Sable with a smirk. "Good luck with that one huh, be sure to watch him during the last turn." Carlos said before starting out Jazza with a short gallop. Sable took it into consideration and aided Thunder to follow through in which he bolted to get ahead of Jazza into the gallop. Firefall soon started to steady his pace but Jazza wasn't so keen on letting a juvenile take her glory.
She started easy slowly pushing her way forward nibbling on her bit before the back stretch was in view. It was then she approached Thunder from the outside looking the two year old in the eyes throwing her ears back accepting the challenge from the Catching Fire Colt and pondered whether or not to trick him or shut him down with a harsh beating on the track. Jazza's brother had won the Canadian Triple Crown and with that honor she would try to face the Triple Tiara of sorts. Firefall grew irritated with the filly pushing him and would stalk her every move or attempt to.
Jazzasoleil had the confidence building within her grasp and unlike her two elder brothers Jazzaway and Livin' The Jazz she was not a horse to take things the easy way. Firefall had the attitude and spunk while Jazza would have the power and courage here as she gracefully took off within the distance of Firefall. The filly threw herself farther from the colt along the homestretch throwing the turf back behind her searching passed the right time until passing the wire with Firefall a length behind her for the finish.
Jazzasoleil gave a proud and confident glare at the young colt as if to say back off but the filly was quite complex and stubborn most of the times. Firefall stood his ground with a blow through his nostrils ignoring the vile antics Jazza gave to him and walked back to the stalls without a noise or a curious motion. A silent Firefall meant that he was planning his next annihilation against such a horse and that could be very well be a very dangerous thing.
