Wild Determination
When Destiny came to Valkyrie, fresh out of a reclaim sale of Sugarhill Acres, the mare's future was very uncertain. The mare had some very rare, very old lines - no child of either Impossible Determination or Elegance was left on the track, but Intrepid connections assured us that that family was packed full of talent. Destiny hadn't raced since August, with very mixed results, and as a mare entering the racing scene in her fourth year and only one win under her belt... well, things seemed bleak. Valkyrie was good at turning horses around, but we didn't know if we were that good. The bar may have been set too high.
However, talent does its own work, and this particular mare didn't care if we had doubts. After a third place finish in the Winter Cup her first start for us, she hasn't finished under second place since. After two second-place finishes in November, Destiny finished off the year with a win in week four. And then, to make things even more exciting, the mare pulled a strong win in week one. Now on the brink of grade four after such a short time with us, it's obvious that Wild Determination is on the rise and won't be slowing down any time soon.
Wild Determination will be running next January week four at The Wire.
