DRAGONHEART'S WORKOUT FOR THE PREAKNESS CHAMPION STAKES
DRAGONHEART'S WORKOUT FOR THE PREAKNESS CHAMPION STAKES
The second leg of the Triple Tiara was here, and this time Jazzasoleil would be more prepared. Impress the Moonlight had won the first leg and everyone was not in shock towards it the filly was a daughter to Impressario. Jazzasoleil was not happy with her placing the last time and she reared and kicked at her trailer doors before being walked out. "Oh come on Jazza you'll be alright." Carrie said upon grabbing the reins. Carlos approached from the side to cross his arms with the filly's temperament, "I think she knows what's coming for the second leg." Spoken by Carlos he soon took his place on the horse and trotted her out onto the turf track. Jazzasoleil felt the grass texture on her hooves and raised her ears towards the sound of the track.
With a simple bob to her head she decided to rear once more only a little before Meredith Hently approached with the grey colt by HoF Everyday Hero, Dragonheart. Draco was new to the Preakness Champion Stakes but he would hold his own. The colt was of fiery temper raising his head as he approached the filly he wouldn't keep his hesitant eyes off of the filly. The colt was anxious to go as he flicked his tail at his rider. "Shall we Mr. Sanchez?" Meredith asked before letting the two start out with a clean start. Dragonheart would face up with Pandora and Take Flight, Draco was a preceder he would hold off until the final turn where he would break loose with the commands of his jockey. Once Draco took off he was like a freight train and impossible to catch in Meredith's opinion of riding him.
Jazza rushed to the lead with no excuses not attending to Draco's threatening attitude kindly as ever she stayed within the center of the track Dragonheart decided to close into her position precede to her advantage, Draco shared the exact same running type as Reflected in Water another horse Meredith Hently rode and had the pleasure of helping her to get to Grade One. Dragonheart gained on Jazza nipping at her hind as he started to come to her side, Jazzasoleil had not been happy with Draco pushing him in Jazza soon started to pick up the pace at her own dispense not allowing the grey colt to conquer her.
The final turn was here and now both horses were set loose as Jazzasoleil was held back within the backstretch she set loose and became an unstoppable machine throwing grass at Draco had made the colt uncomfortable and moved to the outside where the two came along the homestretch until Jazzasoleil took her pace in a serious manner and gained on Dragonheart to win by a length and a half ahead of him. It was not an easy task but Jazzasoleil would not show mercy this time around and neither would Dragonheart.
