SPARX'S WORKOUT FOR THE MOTHER GOOSE STAKES
The first leg of the Triple Tiara was not a pleasant viewing for StarFire and it angered the filly abruptly when she bobbed her head, flicked her tail, and pinned her ears while moving her body to the side at the reactions she got. The Mother Goose Stakes were just around the corner and Meredith would hope to get her on a better scale if not then experienced to add this level of a race. Meredith would work her alone today for the simple pleasure of letting her focus instead of being distracted by another. StarFire was of Augusto lines she had the temperament and out of Fly High Silver she had the spark to go places.
"Alright Sparx let's have an easy run today girl. Let that anger out here and on the racetrack." Meredith said to Sparx with the gentle pat on her shoulder blade. The filly cantered out onto the tracks snorting through her nostrils as she rose her head to view the length of the track in front of her. Setting off into a gentle canter then soon turned into a fast gallop with her fixing in the middle glancing forward, Sparx took an extraordinary turn when she pushed forward with an extra pace set. Meredith pulled her back to slow her before she got to out of hand and coming along the back stretch StarFire needed to save her energy.
StarFire would become a rising star whether it be now or later but this little engine that could would throw all of her fight with the entrants. The filly would not back down this race would be hers. Meredith clinged her legs to the saddle lifting her body frame from the back of the filly to release the tension of weight on her back and she turned the filly loose upon the last final turn to the homestretch. StarFire's ears immediately flew forward as she took stronger strides to pick up the pace throwing some attitude within her pace shaking her head before pushing to the start and then to the finish where she whinnied at it.
"That a girl Sparx, good run girl." Meredith said before taking her off the tracks trotting it off. This track would be full of people to see some of the greats and Meredith had run in it twice now, her first being with Reflected in Water. StarFire would enjoy this win and she would strike hard within the final stretch to claim her win.
