FALL WORKOUT
It had been a few months since Nature blues had any action on the tracks. The owners had gone on a brief business sabbatical leaving the stable to Chris Stevens and Angela Renzo until they would return. Now that things were pulling back together Meredith Hently wanted to take Reflected in Water out for a brief run to get her back in the game. Meredith was joined two of her closest friends and jockey-mates Carlos Sanchez, and Terri Lane. Reflected in Water would finish this year out and retire next year where she would be paired with stable rival Tears No More. Meredith walked her for a brief moment and rubbed the mare's neck before she fixed herself onto the saddle on her back.
Reflected in Water had enjoyed her little rest from the tracks but the mare had needed a good run to get her going again. The mare raised her head to prove she was awake before Meredith guided her towards the tracks to get a good start. The Radiance daughter was beaming this morning and she would perhaps retire next season if not the following. Meredith looked ahead to see her best friend Terri abroad a muscular chestnut mare they knew as Red Admiral, a elder racehorse who would retire in Y16. She was a sweet but confident mare who drove to earn a win. She was a mare to take on the undercards with two HOTY wins to her name. Red Admiral was a prize mare for Terri and come Y16 her retirement would start out good with a booking to Van Guard.
Beside the chestnut was a known flirt, the classic runner Noadiance who was slowly grazing through his three year old season. The half brother to Reflected in Water would seem to make his prime as a senior so it seemed. The colt was special in their eyes with a flag shaped blaze on his forehead and the kind nature of his parents would have the colt push through. They were all here to get their legs moving and refreshed and the three were galloping off with Red Admiral to the lead brushing passed the two siblings with an easy target, Reflected in Water steadied her lengths with Noadiance closing starting from the back. Terri smiled towards the adrenaline rush she had while riding the speedy chestnut.
Meredith only did her bit during the back stretch and when the final turns usually came along Remi knew what to do. The bay mare rose her tail at the excitement of the track again feeling the dirt on the hooves had made her quite chipper not minding the massive dirt being thrown behind her where Noadiance began to pick up a new speed rushing to the inside close to the railings where he would face his sister in a deadly dual so it seemed. Red Admiral had began to pull back slightly to savvy her energy before Reflected in Water began to slip away from Noadiance and push the chestnut mare for the lead. It seemed Reflected in Water had been mocking the older mare for a sweet challenge and Noadiance had declined.
The home stretch was just at their noses as the three were fiercely running leg after leg until Reflected in Water beat the chestnut by a here whisker and Noadiance by a leg. Meredith laughed at the thrill pulling her back to come to a walk as she hugged the horse below her and rubbed her neck for a good praise. "Wonderful job everyone! I cannot wait until we get these monsters back out there everyone will be pleased." Meredith stated looking at Terri and Carlos, "I agree Mere Addy here will kill it I can feel it already. Red Admiral Grade One by the end of the season." Terri said fist bumping Meredith. Carlos had not known what he was thinking working out the horses with two girls made him shrug luckily he had other plans later. "What you two talking about? Noah here will become a legend." Carlos played it off just to fit in before the three of them returned to the stables for a wait for their victory.
