Hello! Today we bring a new and exciting article that has not been seen around Oceanic View before. Owners Felicity and Blake finally announced the birth(s) of the first string of foals ever born to OVS as well as updating us on the progress of their current racing string. Not only is the barn flourishing, they have began to develop a solid racing background in the past year. Today we get to browse the recent developments and envision the future racing string that will grace the tracks of GHF and TW.
YEAR FIFTEEN RETIREES
Apollo Bear - After winning his last race at the end of June and finally claiming that prestigious title of Grade One, "Bear" was retired from his racing career. Six long and rather sporadic years finally payed off in his last race ever, the Akita Rose Derby at The Wire. Felicity was relieved that he won it so quick after her last announcement as she knew he would be able to snatch the title, but was unsure as to the timeline required to do so.
Majestic Hero - Although plans to retire are being held off until after the Breeder's Cup, "Jester" has just recently reached Grade One after winning the Brisbane Cup in September Week Four. After being tossed around several times in year fourteen, the bay stallion has finally settled down and shown his true racing spirit to his new home. Plans for the Breeder's Cup are still up in the air as Jester has not had much experience in HOTY races since his successful two year old season. Felicity was originally worried that the stallion would clash with his rival, Handsome Tabby, but in the end his spirit in the sale ring couldn't make her walk away.
Handsome Tabby - Acquired by OVS as a three year old, "Tabs" was only a Grade Three turf router and had only won one HOTY race before coming to the stable. He finished out his four year old season by adjusting to the new barn and progressing to Grade Two within a month of his move. Felicity decided to skip the BC with the stallion and build him up during his five year old season before attempting the major races again. Their hard work paid off as he reached Grade One in March and has continued to win 7 of 11 races this year. In a leap of faith, OVS has decided to run him in the Senior Superstars Turf Series this fall as he has done well in the HOTY races so far. They plan to have him in the Breeder's Cup Turf* in December before retiring him to stud.
SHOWING PROMISE
Flaming Confidenza - The golden filly sure is blazing her way to the top in OVS's three year old string. Already at Grade Three by October, "Denza" has proven her abilities on the dirt track three times over. She did well in the Triple Tiara by winning the Mother Goose Stakes and placing second in the other two legs, and has won several other HOTY races since then. Felicity is hoping to get her ready for the Breeder's Cup in December and a run through the big HOTY races in year sixteen.
Glory Bell - After being saved from possible deletion in year fourteen, "Leo" is proving his bloodlines by jumping from Grade Five to Grade Three in a little under a year. Felicity is ecstatic about his progress and hopes to get him entered in more HOTY races starting next year. The four year old was forgotten for almost a year before Felicity discovered him after obtaining his dam, Flashabelle. Having bloodlines that run back to Hall of Famers Bank on Glory and True Enough, Glory Bell will be a popular producer no matter what grade he reaches, though the stable is sure he will be able to reach Grade One in no time.
Southern Peach - Bred through Intrepid Racing and given to OVS, Southern Peach has done well in her first year of racing. She has won two HOTY races but is not quite to the level of the big races quite yet. When asked, Felicity expressed her open plans for the filly. They ranged from undercard races the rest of the year, to racing in the Breeder's Cup. The filly is still settling in at Oceanic so it is unclear if her racing will improve even more with time or if the chestnut will continue to place as she has.
