The Basics
Registered Name: Glassslippers
Nickname: Queenie
Age: 3 years old
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour & Markings: Palomino, stockings on both hind legs, star with stripe
Height: 15.2hh
Gender: Mare
Personality:
Queenie is a gorgeous mare that knows it - she struts her stuff wherever she goes, even if the only thing around is the family dog! She's usually too busy looking disinterested to be mischevious, but has been known to kick over buckets and snap at anything loose a groom is wearing - and good luck trying to make her let go! Queenie does what she must to get her way, even if it means she has to cause mayhem to do so. If she's unhappy, she'll try her best to aggravate any surrounding horses, which usually results in her getting a scolding or being put into a separate pasture or stall. Little stands to deter this mare, however - she's famous for wriggling out of her bridle as well. The other mares that have been to pasture with Queenie have come to respect her as the alpha dog - she has a way of setting up those that seem anything but submissive and encouraging the others to ignore them. She's quite devious, actually - it scares the jockeys how clever she can be!
On race day, Glassslippers gets uncharacteristically wound up - she'll snap at anyone that comes near, even her jockey. She doesn't stop moving once she realizes what day it is - Queenie will be shifting her feet and pacing when she can. When it's time for competition she's hot, and when the gates open, she's on fire. Queenie gains ground quick on the pack, charging through anyone hanging back or clustering in the middle. She takes up an easy pace between the first few competitors, seldom hesitant to speed up or maneuver differently in order to maintain her spot. Then, once the finish line draws close, the mare blasts up to the front and through to first, ready to pass the frontrunner she's been pressing all the way.
Queenie's rider is Arianna Little, a jockey known for being pretty aggressive on the track herself. Though she and Queenie didn't quite get along at first, the mare seems to now respect Arianna's judgement. Because Queenie likes to play hard, she can sometimes still be resistant to her jockey's commands, but the two have been a pretty good fit so far - both are extremely competitive and, for the most part, accept nothing less than the best. When it comes to racing, we expect these two to burn up the track.
