POINT AWAY
she's gone
she's gone
[x] The seas crashed against the sides, tumbling over one another as they cracked like thunder on the sand. The white foam rolled on and on, following at the tips of the waves and crashing into a pool of one another. Seagulls yelled at each other when a crab was found pondering across the sand. They dove, landing quickly on the sand, one chasing away the others as he claimed it his. The sand was hot to touch as the sun glared down on all objects. For a while the songs of the ocean was all that was heard, until .[/blockquote]
[x] My face seemed to have turned white as I had loaded sunblock on. My skin was easily sun burnt in the sun. I felt the sticky substance slick on my face as the hard cut wind filled with salt blew it back. I swallowed as the sharp salt seemed to blow up my nose. Below me, Point Away shook her head, not liking the wind, but still wanting to run. I held a tight rein, keeping the bit away from her teeth as she grabbed for it. She pranced in the sand. The sand flew up from beneath her hooves, reaching my boots and legs. She swished her tail, as if the small pebbles of sands were flies. For a while I walked her, getting her used to the soft substance of sand. This would help build up her stamina for the Kentucky Derby, I was sure of it. After walking and turning back, I arrived at the cliff again. There I turned back to face the open sand dunes. On my left the waves crashed viciously, the wind seeming the pick up. There, I asked Ghost. Easily she responded, taking to the sand easily and watching her step. She started off fast, but not as fast as she usually was. I slowed her down to a nice slow gallop and she responded easily. For a while she did bow her head, waiting to throw it out and run, but I never let her go. "We're going about twelve furlongs Ghost," I said loudly, shouting over the wind. She only shook her head, but stayed at the same pace.
[x] Together we swept over the sand. The small pebbles jumped up at both of our feet. I felt it bumping against my boots. Her usual hoof beats were silent, being smothered by the soft and gentle sand. She seemed to enjoy it, the sand flying everywhere and the sound of the soft and humming waves next to her. Eventually her neck relaxed and she galloped comfortably. Her ears were perked as a seagull cawed overhead, being held only by the wind as it held its wings still. She nickered, and I instantly knew she loved it. I made note to bring her back.
[x] We floated effortlessly over the desert. Ghost wasn't even sweaty yet, the slow gallop seemed to have nothing on her. I finally began to pull her up. She fought me eagerly. She tossed her head and refused to slow. I corrected her by tugged back harder on the reins to tell her who was boss. She finally responded and pulled up. I turned her towards the water, instantly she jumped in excitement. Once touching the water she danced, jumping up and nickering. She bucked once, I kicked her and told her no, but her excitement continued. She tossed her head frantically against the reins, begging to go farther in, but the waves were strong and I knew she would be knocked over. We both walked back in the water. By then Ghost wasn't even panting anymore. She was calm and relaxed, the best I've ever seen her since she got to the stables. I leaned down onto her neck, "We're coming back Ghost, don't worry, we definitely will," I promised to her while scratching her ears. She snorted, but turned her head towards me with a happy look. I laughed and together we both trotted back towards the cliff.
